Volunteers Needed!

The success of the Cranford Soccer Club is directly tied to the people who volunteer.  Whether it’s helping to maintain and line fields or coaching a team, your assistance is greatly needed, perhaps now more so than ever.  In the fall of 2010, we experienced the largest number of player registrations in the 30-year history of our program.  As a result, we found ourselves short of coaches.  Without coaches, we cannot roster teams.  So we are strongly encouraging you to volunteer your time to coach your child’s team next spring.  We do understand that not everyone is comfortable being a coach perhaps because you didn’t play the sport.  We will do everything we can to help make this an enjoyable experience by providing you with the basic skills necessary to be a youth soccer coach. Volunteering your time as a coach is a rewarding experience that you will not soon forget.

Summer Select Team Tryouts
for U11 and U12 Girls

The Cranford Soccer Club, in conjunction with CHS Girls varsity Coach Jen Michewicz, will be putting together Summer Select teams in the U11 & U12 girls divisions.

The  Summer Select program would be a six week program running from approximately June 14th - July 24th. It would provide players with an opportunity to play competitive soccer during the months of June and July. Focus will be placed on improving individual technique and ball skills, along with team tactics, and leadership/team building training. During that time the team would participate in 10 training sessions each 1.5 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 3 weekend tournaments located in NJ.

REC 2 SEASON POSTPONED
The first game of the Rec 2 season has been postponed to Sept. 17.
Referee Reimbursement Requirements
As of August 2011

The Cranford Soccer Club has revised the referee requirements for reimbursements. Please click here for more information.

Any questions, please contact Marcelle Aldredge.

Regarding field use & practice.

Please do not practice in front of the goals unless they have been moved to the side of the field. The Goalie boxes are in rough shape and must be preserved for gameday. The Rec coaches of divisions that conduct weekly practice– Rec1 & Rec2 – were all supplied with a set of PUGG nets! You also have cones and discs.

Please practice on the side of fields as needed when fields are wet or muddy.

On Game day (Saturday am) head coaches must double-check field condition and determined if you want to play. Paul Skelton our VP of Operations can not always check our fields in time for you to cancel refs or trainers. Sorry but those playing at 9am obviously have much more responsibility in this regard.

Our website “field status alert” is NOT real time and relies on someone checking the fields then someone else manually updating the alert system. Sorry but if it says “open” the fields might really be CLOSED and vice versa. Do not go by our Field Status Alert Saturday morning except if the timestamp is recent (within the hour).

Rec 1 coaches, please forward this to parents… At Walnut Ave Saturday mornings, please do not allow kids to play with dump truck and/or shovel toys in the field areas that have more dirt than grass. There have been several reports of unsupervised young kids doing this and it’s damaging the field.
